Pregnancy Update Week 28: Third Trimester Ahoy!

I am now 28 weeks (and a bit) and no matter which app, book or website I look at I am finally in the third trimester! The home stretch, and I'm bricking it!

Back when I hit 12 weeks and had a scan that proved there was an actual baby in my womb I started making lists, all sorts of lists, hospital bag lists, and 'all the stuff we still have from Boo' lists and 'all the things I wanted with Boo but couldn't have and really really want now' lists, and it goes on and on, now those lists are mostly complete, and where applicable partially shopped for, but the suitcase I've started packing for labour is definitely not big enough (leading to the inevitable question of: is the bag too small or the list far too ambitious?) and we've had to board the loft to fit all of the stuff that's going into storage until bump needs it (much to my husbands despair "But we'll need the walker" he exclaimed as it was put firmly in the loft where it will sit until much much later in the year when bump can at least stand...)

Having finally given in to everyone else's insistence that we need a nursery and we can't just put the new baby in with Boo once she's 6 months I now have the panic that the room will never be ready. We need new furniture for Boo so we can move hers through into the nursery, or new low cost nursery furniture for the baby, the nursery is painted but doesn't have a carpet, and having set my heart on a Very Hungry Caterpillar theme there is of course nothing available at a price that isn't insane so I am going to have to buy fabric and smile sweetly at my Mother in Law (who is infinitely less hopeless than me at sewing) so that we can sort out duvet, pillow and cushion covers and curtains, and don't even get me started on the lamp shade! I suspect in hindsight I couldn't have set us up a bigger challenge...

Setting aside all of the logistical organisation we still have to go, physically I am a mess! Everything's moved about in my abdomen so it hurts to sit or stand for much longer than a few minutes at a time, most of my time at home is being spent firmly on my side (or back of I need to watch the tv, having insisted on a very ill advised living room move around) which then makes getting out and about all the more painful (especially when it comes to work!) I have heartburn, my Hyperemesis has reared it's ugly head again, so I'm back on a regime of medication to avoid refamilairising myself withe everything I eat, having avoided physio my hips are a write-off, the exhaustion from the first trimester is back, especially with a seemingly nocturnal bump, but only 12 weeks to go eh?

I have the first of my growth scans on Thursday (Boo stopped growing and had to come out early) and hopefully an early indication as to whether I'll be carrying to term or being induced early, though we won't know for certain until much closer to the 36 week scan.

All the moaning and groaning aside though, I do remind myself daily that I am lucky. My husband and I unlike many other people didn't struggle to conceive, we have never lost a pregnancy, and all my grumbly aches and pains and sickness aside I've had what all in all is another straightforward, dare I even say easy pregnancy, I am trying to cherish this time, especially given that as far as we know and are currently planning this will be our last child, and feel honoured that I am able to carry children. That said it's a lot easier to do when I don't have a head up in my rips and feet seemingly attempting to escape through my cervix...
