Project B

I'd seen a fair amount flying round on various pregnancy forums about subscription boxes for pregnancy and babies stages of development, and after a bit of research I figured I'd have a go, now that I'm pregnant I'm saving tonnes on my wine bill, so this seemed like a perfect outlet for my money.
I'd found three that looked quite interesting, and as Project B was the cheapest, and started from 12 weeks pregnant I figured it was a good place to start.
Project be has a themed box every month which brings you a total of 7 boxes. They're £14 each, and thee's an option when you sign up to bring it up to £15 with a monthly charity donation tot heir chosen charities, one of which is Count the Kicks, this is what I went with.
My first box is box 3 with the theme Energise. It turned up on December 1st which was much more prompt than I had expected. The packaging looked really professional, and upon opening it has a selection of cards. One explaining the stage you're in that month, One with a recipe, another with some things you should start thinking about buying and finally a card on light exercise in pregnancy.
The first products I noticed, or rather Boo noticed were the Bear Paws and Bear Alphabites. The paws were inhaled before I got a chance to even smell them, so they were a definite hit, The alphabites didn't go down quite as quickly, but she did eventually finish them off. It was nice to find some bits in the box that were suitable for Boo, but neither product would have kept until Bel was big enough or them, so I can only assume they were actually intended for me, and they definitely weren't the kind of things I'd normally eat, so I think their reception could be a bit mixed with other mums to be.
Next was a selection of tea bags by Tea Pigs, I'm a huge fan of Tea Pigs so was more than happy to guzzle them down! Followed by some chocolate coins by Divine, they're fair trade but like a lot of chocolate contained soya, so had to be spirited away before Boo could get her hands on them and give herself a tummy ache. When I eventually got round to eating them they were alright, but I do have to admit, I prefer Dairy Milk, seems my discerning tastes for good food doesn't stretch to chocolate, but given that it was December, if found the chocolate being coins to be a nice touch.
There was a book in the box entitled 'What to buy for your baby' and I have to say it's just the kind of book I could have done with when I was pregnant with Boo, and I'm keeping an eye out for a first timer amongst my family and friends to pass it to, it's comprehensive and unbiased, covering reusable, eco and standard disposable nappies with equal openness as one example.
I got a full sized bottle of femfresh which was a surprise as the image on the website had indicated a travel size bottle, and two little sample tubes of Urban Veda purifying day cream which went straight into the bucket of stuff for the hospital bag along with the stretch mark cream.
All in all I was really impressed with the box, it had a nice variety of products in, and got the ball rolling on me preparing for Bel's rival in the spring. I'm quite looking forward to the next box!
